Bloomizon Delivers Customized Vitamins To Your Door

Even if you try following a healthy diet, many foods don’t have as many nutrients as you would expect. In the past, foods used to come straight from the farm, however modern processing techniques often result in nutrients getting lost in the mix.

    From the Bloomizon website

Bloomizon is a French startup aiming to enable anyone to have a micro-nutritionist in their pocket – with both software technology and actual vitamins customized for each user. In the past, getting tailored vitamin regimens required an actual visit to a nutritionist – often an expensive and inconvenient option. Thanks to advances in technology, Bloomizon is making it easier for anyone to obtain the perfect cocktail of vitamin supplements.

Originally founded in research university centers, the company moved on to form a two-year partnership with doctors, researchers and other professionals at the CNRS (The National Center for Scientific Research). The offering was originally inspired by two questions: What does the body need to function optimally, and why does everyone take the same supplements if everyone is different? It appears as though Bloomizon has a few answers.

After creating an account, the user provides information on their physiology, lifestyle, and diet. Rather than creating pre-made packages of off-the-shelf supplements, based on the information provided, Bloomizon then generates a custom nutrition program and produces dosage-customized pills as determined by the user “nutrinome”. The dosages are designed such that only one capsule of each assigned vitamin is required each day (e.g., 1 C, 1 D, 1 E) with a max of 3 capsules per day. The vitamins come in clearly labeled tins and the mobile app displays the specific vitamins the user should take as part of their program each day. Oh, and they are delivered to your home.

According to their press kit, the program algorithm focuses on providing two types of vitamins to consumers: water soluble vitamins and fat-soluble vitamins. The former are taken daily because they can’t be stored in the body for short periods, whereas the latter type of vitamin can be stored by the body and do not require daily ingestion.

At the moment Bloomizon is only serving customers in France, though they are looking to quickly expand to the UK, Germany and the US within the next 4-6 months.  Orders are currently placed directly on their website and users only pay for the vitamins they receive – priced at around €10 per 30 capsules.

The company says their technology is possible due to biotech moving six times faster than Moore’s law. Also, more and more consumers each day are not only receptive to but expecting preventive and self-monitoring tools to be available through their favorite technologies.

The company was started in 2013 and to date has secured €265,000 from investors.
