Think You’re Cut Out for Startups? Take This Quiz

Nothing could be more exciting than setting up the business of your dreams. But before you embark on that, make sure you know the challenges involved with start-ups. There can be no coming back when you’re in mid-sea. The following questions will help you analyze if you have that mental arsenal required for entrepreneurship. Think you’re cut out for startups?  Let’s find out.

Are You Ready to Beat the Odds?

The hacker’s brain is one constantly working entity that enables the person to think out of the box and devise methods to hack even if the odds are great. Creativity, common sense, perseverance and courage blend to make a successful hacker, and that blend is just what a successful entrepreneur needs to have. Can you navigate through hurdles and devise new ways to achieve your goals? Can you find solutions when none seem to be around?

    Can You Handle Team Dynamics?

You need a dedicated team when you’re in those formative stages of your start-up. Wherever there are people grouped together for a mission, there are bound to be disagreements, ego, prejudices and power struggles. You would simultaneously need to be:

.    The lubricant that smoothens the friction
.    The great motivator who gets the team to aim high
.    The strategist who sets up a realistic but definite goal for your team to achieve, and
.    The boss who gets the job done

    Are You Persuasive?

It’s one thing to make people do things, it’s quite another to make them want to do those things for you. Do you have what it takes to make people – your partners and employees – see your vision? Is the passion you have contagious enough to make people want to work for it?

Do You Have Arrow Tip Focus?

If you don’t, you’re in for a big, big mess. It is important to make sure that you know what tasks you need to plunge head on into and those you need to delegate to others. You also would have to make split second decisions, but they better be the right ones since those decisions could determine the course of your organization.

How Do You Enrich Your Knowledge of Startups?

Successful people always seek insights and advice and that’s what you should do. Books and publications related to owning or managing a business can provide you with vital tips and suggestions which could make a big difference in how you run your organization. Motivational books or videos can help too.

    What Drives You?

Are you driven by earning the highest profit, or serving your customers? Seriously, if profit is what makes you run your business, you won’t get much of it. Your passion should be satisfying customer needs and making them feel cared for. That would build goodwill and trust in customers, which would translate to more business, earnings and profit. Otherwise you just wouldn’t be able to set up a dedicated customer base.

Not everyone is a gifted entrepreneur though, so make sure you answer the aforementioned questions before you think of taking the plunge. Remember, you need to have a hacker’s brain, be able to handle a professional team, make people see your vision, focus only on things that matter, seek expert insight from books and online resources, and be driven by serving customer needs.
