For the second time, with help of Chapel Hill venture firm True Brudge Capital Partners, Forbes has released their annual list of Next Billion-Dollar Startups. On this year’s list are 25 US startups that have raised a notable amount of money, have passed the puberty test with varying degrees of explosive growth, and according to the confident crew at Forbes, are well on their way to a one-billion-dollar valuation.
Revenues were reviewed, customer data was analyzed, historical performances were probed, and conversations with a wide spectrum of stakeholders were considered. After extensive examination, here are their predictions for this year’s Unicorn Club.

I am a little surprised that a business like ClassPass is making the list. It seems the access they provide is nothing more than a version of a search engine. Right? I wouldn’t pay a membership fee to a search engine.
So many software companies! However, if you can make software that allows a business to become more efficient, it will be a great venture.
Checkr is going to be well worth investing in. Background checks are something that more and more companies are relying on.
